Tickets for the show at Coca-Cola Arena are on sale now.
We’re not going to lie, Rema’s Calm Down have been on heavy rotation in the FACT offices since the track dropped in 2022. So, we were very excited to hear that the Afrobeats sensation will headline a concert at Coca-Cola Arena on Thursday, 11 April. Dubbed Afroworld 2024, the show will bring together the most renowned names in African music.
Headlining the concert is the rising star Rema, whose energetic hits Calm Down, Dumebi and Time N Affection have taken the world by storm. Hailing from Benin City, Nigeria, this 23-year-old singer, rapper, and songwriter is recognised for his blend of traditional Afrobeats and a genre he coined himself: "Afrorave."
Influenced by artists like Fela Kuti and Wizkid. In 2018, a viral freestyle on Instagram caught the attention of D'Prince, a prominent figure in the Nigerian music industry. This led to Rema signing with Mavin Records, a leading label in Nigeria, and releasing his debut single "Dumebi" in 2019.
However, it was his 2022 single "Calm Down" that truly catapulted Rema to global recognition. The song topped charts in various countries and became the longest-charting and most successful African song in Billboard Hot 100 history, even garnering a remix featuring American pop star Selena Gomez.
Tickets for Afroworld 2024 are available via Platinumlist and are priced at AED 199 (bronze), AED 299 (silver), AED 399 (platinum) and AED 499 (diamond).
If you’re after cool concerts, there are big stars coming to Dubai. The British girl group Eternal will perform at Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium on 20 April. Blackstreet and Shaggy announced that they will also be headlining Coca-Cola Arena Dubai on 11 May. Expect the hit songs Boombastic, It Wasn’t Me and, of course, No Diggity.
