Dubai is always up to something, and now it's treating you to yet another cultural festival. Dhai Dubai, an Emirati-led light art festival, has kicked off its 10-day spectacle at Expo City Dubai. The event promises a dazzling celebration of Emirati art and culture, showcased through captivating light installations, interactive experiences, talks, and workshops. Running until 4 February, the festival blends tradition and innovation.

Visitors can immerse themselves in the larger-than-life light art installations created by seven prominent Emirati artists, namely Abdulla Almulla, Dr Mohamed Yousef, Dr Najat Makki, Khalid Al Shafar, Maitha Hamdan, Mattar Bin Lahej and Reem Al Ghaith.

One of the highlights of Dhai Dubai is the Sisters of the Desert projections on Al Wasl Plaza's iconic dome, inspired by the late Emirati artist Dhabia Juma Lamlah. The dome becomes a canvas for a show that also features international artists Rene Kulitja and Dr Esther Mahlangu, symbolising cross-cultural connectivity.

In a significant humanitarian collaboration, Dhai Dubai has partnered with Liter of Light to provide high-quality solar lighting to challenged communities. Festival-goers have the opportunity to contribute to Liter of Light's mission in communities across the Philippines, Kenya, Cameroon, and India.

Dhai Dubai also encourages active engagement through striking installations. The Speed of Light skate park by XDubai, elevated by illustrations from prominent Emirati artist Aysha Al Hamrani, turns skating into an art form. Moreover, the festival includes interactive installations like Solar Canopy, Elysian Arcs, and Solar Dance, providing visitors with unique and participatory experiences.

Beyond the visual spectacle, Dhai Dubai offers a Knowledge Programme with enlightening talks and creative workshops. Families are also welcome, with over 20 activities and workshops designed for children aged three to 12, inspiring them to explore new art forms and mediums.
