Dubai has earned a place at the top of the entertainment sphere. With some of the biggest shows and events happening in the region all year round, the emirate has become a favourite destination for leisure. Likewise, the year is also closing off with a bang with the UAE’s first-ever musical, Once Upon a Time in Dubai.

Once Upon a Time in Dubai will kick off on 20 December at The Agenda in Dubai Media City, and FACT Magazine is the official media partner. It’s the first time a show of this level is being produced in the region, setting a benchmark for future theatre performances.

Set against the backdrop of Dubai itself, Once Upon a Time in Dubai will follow Will, an artist from London who relocates to Dubai — a story similar to many who now live in this city. He wishes to create a musical extravaganza in Dubai along with his partner, Sophia, who already lives in Dubai. Together, they explore the culture of Dubai and all that it has to offer. But will Will fulfil his dream, is yet to be seen.

Once Upon a Time in Dubai will be produced by Dubai-based French music producer Stephane Boukris, under the direction of Johan Nus, whose works include Arabs Got Talent. Gilles Papain, with shows like Celine, will be joining the team as the executive producer along with Nazim Khaled and Kendji Girac on the musical front.

Once Upon a Time in Dubai is expected to open to 150,000 attendees. It’s also already in the pipeline to go on an international tour and get its own screen adaptation. Once Upon a Time in Dubai will run until 11 January, with ticket prices starting at AED 260 per person. So mark your calendars because this is one musical you don’t want to miss.
