The spellbinding Broadway sensation lands at Dubai Opera for a 20-day run.
Wicked The Musical is flying into Dubai for the first time, and Dubai Opera is rolling out the green carpet. From 28 January to 15 February 2026, the celebrated production will take over the venue with a limited 20-day season, marking the show’s long-awaited UAE debut. First performed in New York in 2003, Wicked has grown into a global theatre phenomenon that continues to captivate audiences with its stirring score and visionary staging.
The Dubai engagement is set to be a full-scale, gravity-defying spectacle. More than 100 performers, including a live orchestra, will bring the Emerald City to life, supported by over 350 costumes and breathtaking sets. Expect signature moments that have defined the show’s legacy, including the beloved musical numbers “Popular”, “Defying Gravity” and “For Good”. Fans can also look forward to a dramatic aerial sequence that sees a witch take flight above the audience.
Based on Gregory Maguire’s 1995 novel, Wicked reframes the world of Oz through the story of two women whose friendship is tested by ambition, power and public perception. The musical explores themes of identity and morality, casting a fresh light on the idea of good and evil. The milestone Dubai season arrives as the show celebrates its 25th anniversary, following a blockbuster year that also saw the release of the film adaptation starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.
