Abu Dhabi is home to some of the best restaurants in the UAE. One name that stands out — and is loved by many — is Italian restaurant Antonia. Delighting diners in the capital with three branches already, this popular pizzeria is opening its first outpost in Dubai at Mall of the Emirates.
Much like its popular outposts in Al Maryah Island, Al Zeina and Mamsha Al Saadiyat in the capital, Antonia in Dubai is bringing its signature Roman-style flair to the table. Expect trays of traditional Pizza Al Taglio, served in rectangular slices with a variety of tempting toppings. In true Italian fashion, it’s all about casual bites, and no cutlery is required.
Chef and restaurateur Simone Federici is behind the concept. His culinary journey began at just 13, under the watchful eye of his grandmother, Antonia. After refining his craft in Italy’s top kitchens and making waves in the Caribbean and Miami, he brought his bold, flavour-packed approach to the United Arab Emirates — and with it, a slice of family tradition.
At the heart of Antonia lies its game-changing dough. The secret? A 50-year-old sourdough starter first crafted by Grandma Antonia in 1972. Lovingly nurtured over generations, it forms the foundation of a dough that’s fermented for 72 hours, resulting in a crust that’s light, crisp, and remarkably easy to digest.
Antonia’s specialises in Pizza Al Taglio — traditional Roman-style pizza served by the slice. Trays of rectangular pizza are artfully topped with the likes of Margherita, Diavola, Quattro Formaggi, Ortolana, and Gricia. Beyond the pizza counter, the menu spans antipasti, handmade pastas (including gluten-free options), fresh salads, and indulgent desserts. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, Antonia promises a slice of la dolce vita — with a family legacy baked into every bite.
Antonia is set to take over the space previously occupied by Black Tap, located near the cinema on the upper level of Mall of the Emirates. While an official opening date for Antonia Dubai has yet to be announced, stay tuned to FACT for all the latest updates.
