The London-based hospitality group will launch a chef-driven Italian restaurant in Downtown Dubai.
Italian restaurant Oltremare will soon open in Downtown Dubai, just moments from Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue. The new venue comes courtesy of Fortune Family, the London-based hospitality group known for concepts rooted in culture and craftsmanship.
Named after the Italian word for “beyond the sea”, Oltremare offers a contemporary take on classic Italian dining, shaped by memory, movement and the simple pleasure of gathering around the table. While the concept looks firmly forward, its foundation is traditional, and is anchored by respect for ingredients, regional inspiration and a warm sense of hospitality.
At the helm is Chef Emanuele Pollini, a Romagna-born talent bringing a personal philosophy to the kitchen. Speaking about his approach, he said: “The most important thing is to enjoy food with respect. At Oltremare, we focus on simplicity enriched by experience.” While full menu details have yet to be revealed, the restaurant is expected to spotlight comforting cucina povera alongside regional dishes influenced by Pollini’s travels from Sicily to the Adriatic coast.
The space is just as much a part of the experience. Spanning 800 square metres and seating 180 guests, Oltremare pairs elegance with warmth, creating a setting that feels polished without being precious. Outdoors, a 300-square-metre terrace frames views of the Burj Khalifa, with fountains, cypress trees and olive trees adding a distinctly Tuscan mood to the city skyline. As the evening unfolds, live piano sets the tone, tapping into the romance of Italy with a soundtrack made for lingering.
From day to night, the venue shifts gears, transforming into BLITZ, an in-house late-night lounge where cocktails and music lead the experience into a more intimate, social rhythm.
At its core, Oltremare positions itself as a celebration of Italian food, heritage and timeless elegance, supported by a predominantly Italian culinary team trained in a polished, poised and assured service style. The result is an inviting new address for locals and well-travelled diners alike, especially those who appreciate authentic cooking delivered with confidence.
