The event solidifies Dubai’s position as a global hub for the gaming industry.
Gamers, get ready to power up because the Dubai Esports & Games Festival (DEF) is back for its fifth edition. Promising to be bigger and bolder than ever, this edition will take place from 8 to 24 May 2026, transforming Dubai into the ultimate gaming paradise.
At the heart of the festival, GameExpo takes over Dubai World Trade Centre, Zabeel Halls 2 and 3, from 22 to 24 May. Expect live entertainment, competitive action, hands-on gameplay, new releases, retro favourites and interactive zones designed for everyone from dedicated enthusiasts to first-time players. This year also introduces new immersive areas, including Neo Tokyo District, Battle Arena and Velocity Garage, with 10 distinct zones, more than 100 gaming consoles and live tournament stages.

Aligned with the UAE’s Year of the Family, DEF 2026 places extra focus on youth engagement and multi-generational participation, with inclusive experiences designed to bring families together through play, creativity and shared discovery. Returning highlights include GameExpo, GameExpo Summit powered by PG Connects, Play Beyond and the Dubai Cosplay Championship, alongside new large-scale interactive experiences aimed at families, students and creators.
The creative district, The Narrows, supported by Dubai Culture, returns to spotlight local and Emirati artists, designers and pop-culture creators, while the DEF Educational Engagement Programme invites schools to get involved through workshops, challenges and competitions, culminating in DEF Education Day on 21 May at Dubai World Trade Centre.
For the first time, DEF will also partner with LEGO Certified Stores to introduce a dedicated LEGO experience focused on imagination, hands-on building and creative challenges, adding another reason for families to visit.

The GameExpo 2026 will also include activities such as cosplay, esports tournaments, coding workshops, and Minecraft education challenges, guaranteeing an immersive and engaging experience for all visitors.
Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), said: “Dubai Esports & Games Festival has evolved into a strategic platform that reflects Dubai’s global ambition in gaming, esports and digital innovation. As we mark the fifth edition, DEF 2026 reinforces our commitment to attracting international talent and investment, empowering the next generation of creators, and accelerating the growth of the gaming ecosystem in line with Dubai’s long-term economic vision. By convening global industry leaders, developers, investors and fans in one citywide celebration, DEF continues to strengthen Dubai’s position as a major international hub for gaming and interactive entertainment.”
