The movie theatre is located at Mangrove Beach, Umm Al Quwain.
Lights, camera, cinema. Grab the popcorn – and a blanket. Machia Vellii is back for a new season with its fantastic floating cinema at Floté. Situated in Mangrove Beach, Umm Al Quwain, it’s a chance to watch movies in a magical setting. So, if you’re looking for films and fun, here’s what you need to know.
Located approximately one hour outside of Dubai and two hours from Abu Dhabi, Floté’s floating cinema is a chilled, contemporary spot. Guests enter via a wooden walkway lined with black-and-white photos from old films. We spotted Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck on a Vespa in Roman Holiday.
Visitors can sit inside a modern boat while watching films projected. The boat includes seats, a table, and little lamps. Plus, the serene spot overlooks the sea and sunset, and offers direct access to the beach.
While you are watching films, you can refuel at Floté’s cafe. The menu includes hot and cold drinks and decadent desserts. The servers will bring your bites to the boat – so you can just sit back and soak up the scenes. The venue also offers seating on the sand and in the shade. Plus, there are magazine racks stacking old-school editions of Vogue.
Mangrove Beach in Umm Al Quwain is a natural wonder in the UAE. Stretching almost two kilometres, it is surrounded by mangroves and is a superb spot for nature lovers.
A private boat costs AED 400 and includes a skipper but excludes food and drinks. Floté is open daily from 4pm to 11pm.
