Choose from haircuts and massages to manicures and pedicures.

One of the worst ways to start a spa or salon appointment is by being late. When you know that this is Me Time, it can make you feel far from relaxed. So, after I’ve been stuck in terrible traffic and arrive at The Nest Salon, I’m relieved to be warmly welcomed into a serene space with smiling staff.

The Nest Salon derives its name from a charming story, as a bird once nested on one of the owner’s balcony. Low and behold, it was considered a sign and the concept was born. The salon opened in the summer, and is already proving popular with locals and expats. The one-stop shop for your style needs offers haircuts, blow dries and colour, manicures and pedicures, foot, head, neck and shoulder massages, and threading.

The Nest

The Nest Salon has a less is more approach to its design and décor. The salon has different sections for different treatments. The space boasts a neutral colour scheme from cream walls to wooden shelves, which are punctuated by plenty of plants. The features include big black chairs, curved mirrors, ring lights and floor-to-ceiling windows that let in lots of light. Plus, there is a balcony where you can chill pre or post-treatment.

What sets The Nest Salon apart is its skilled staff, all of whom are experts in their roles. I have booked a blow dry, pedicure and threading. Despite booking multiple treatments, the team’s ability to multitask and make the most of every minute is return-worthy good.

I start with a pedicure and am given a spectrum of colours to choose from, which range from pale pinks to deep reds. While my feet are getting buffed, trimmed and washed, my eyebrows are getting threaded. While my hair is getting washed, my nail varnish is being applied. The team work in sync, often communicating with their own cues rather than conversation, and the process runs spectacularly smoothly.

The little extras don’t go unnoticed, from the lower leg massage mid-pedicure to the hair conditioning mask during the wash. The hair salon uses Kevin Murphy products, which are described as skin care for your hair and made with high-quality, natural ingredients.

My hair stylist Samantha is from Manchester, and she’s friendly as well as fast. She is genuinely interested in my hair history, and makes recommendations for products. A few hot tongs later, she fulfils my wavy blow dry request and gives me oh-so shiny hair, which get compliments and lasts for three days.

Salons come and come in Dubai, but few have got me ready ahead of schedule, even after I’ve turned up late. I arrived flustered and left feeling fabulous. Thank you, The Nest Salon.

The Nest Salon is open from Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 6pm; and from Wednesday to Thursday from 9am to 9pm.
